For Medicare part d prescription plans, you must first have insurance that covers Plan A and B. That could be the original Medicare or Medicare Advantage.
If you have Plan C, also known as the Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement plan, most of these already cover your Medicare prescription drug plans. Depending on your situation, there are different ways to get your Rx plans. But you might opt for Original Medicare with a part D addition.
Part A and Part B are under the umbrella of Original Medicare. There are other Parts that will function as the additions you might have for insurance. For the areas that the Medicare Parts do not cover you can opt for Medicare Supplement Insurance.
Part C – This is also known as Medicare Advantage.
Part D – Prescription Drugs coverage. For individuals with Original Medicare this is a great additive to their insurance.
Medicare Supplemental - provides the coverage to fill in all the gaps of your insurance. Supplemental insurance is a to go plan to cover everything that is not covered by the original Medicare.
